Turks and Caicos vacations offer excellent choice for a tropical vacation. The Turks Islands include the island of Grand Turk and the island of Salt Cay. The capital of Turks and Caicos is Grand Turk and this is where the cruise ships stop. The island is historically significant as this is the first spot Christopher Columbus stopped on his voyage to the New World.
Salt cay is considered an excellent secret as this is a small island with not many residents. Originally this island was the main point of the Salt Industry in Bermuda. There are many old buildings that date from the peak of the salt industry. Taylors Hill offers some of the most beautiful views of the island.
The Caicos Islands consists of six different islands. West Caicos is a popular spot for diving. The island is not inhabited so the water and island are in pristine condition. You can access the island on one of the many sandy coves. There is a deep water marina for the many boats that visit and drop and pick up visitors.
Providenciales is the most developed island and this contains the international airport. The beaches on the islands are considered some of the best in the world and has won many travel awards. This is one of the most western islands and has shopping facilities, restaurants, spas, accommodation and golf courses.
Middle Caicos is the largest of the Caicos Islands and there are three different villages; Lorimers, Bambarra and Conch Bar. Much of the south part of the island is swampland and flats. The coastline of the middle part of the island is very dramatic and the north section has some spectacular beaches.
This island has the largest cave network near Conch Bar. There is not a lot of accommodation available but what is, is very comfortable.
